The Austwell-Tivoli area is a small area. Ever been there?
It hugs the Texas Gulf Coast and has beautiful, lush, riparian wildlife all around. This small-town community relies a lot on us, the people, and Saturday, it needs your help.
Fourth of July is only days away, and the city of Austwell wants to do it with a bang. The city is hosting its 29th annual Austwell Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser, and it seems like it will be a hoot.
A good ol' fish fry and a dance capped off by a fireworks show in the name of volunteer firefighters is the way to go this holiday.
We've seen several fires break out in this area, and the area is so far out that it relies on these firefighters to put their life on the line to save the lives of others - talk about celebrating independence and heroism.
Magical Jams will provide the music for dancing, and there is plenty for the entire family to do, so why not support the cause?
Even if you don't live out in a small town, it would be great to get away from the big city and experience what lies in our own backyard. Without these volunteer firefighters, these cities would be left without help, which is sometimes more than 30 minutes away.
These fire departments rely on your support, so they can be a help. As serious of an issue it is for this department to get funding, this weekend promises to be fun in the sun.
On top of music, food and other activities, the celebration is BYOB. Yes, BYOB.
Head to Austwell this weekend and be sure to pop some fireworks in honor of those who use their independence to help others.
