This picture is significant because this is the first time Braxton started walking. He took a stroll with his daddy through the duck pond in Victoria.

She was a blessing Michael Gonzales did not expect.

Little Azrael Gonzales was born Feb. 11, three years to the day Michael lost his father, Vincent G. Gonzales Jr.

Melanie Gonzales, Michael’s wife and Azrael’s mother, was happy to see him so elated over the birth.

“It was a big thing for him,” she said. Melanie calls it the ultimate Father’s Day gift – for both fathers involved.

“He thanks his dad for it. He says his dad did it for him,” she said.

This photo won the reader-submitted Father’s Day photo contest. Melanie receives a $250 gift certificate to Torin Bales Fine Jewelry for submitting the winning photo.

In the Advocate's most recent photo contest, readers revealed how fathers can be selfless, surprising and sometimes silly.

All these emotions are evident in the photos sent to us.

A dad carving a pumpkin with his kids, a dad holding his baby for the first time - all these moments are beautifully captured and show why our fathers play such an important role as we grow up.

They love us, and they provide for us, and now, you've honored them through photos and words about how much they mean to you.
