Citizens Medical Center Auxiliary makes donations

Citizens Medical Center Volunteer and Pastoral Care Auxiliary met May 21 in Citizens Medical Hospital center classroom. The quarterly meeting was call to order by Patricia Bruchmiller, president. Pledge to the United States flag was led by Emily Knebel, and prayer for hospital auxiliaries led by Rose Robles were recited in unison.
The president introduced 2013 officers Darlene McDonald, vice president; Esther Ford, secretary; Susan Shaw, treasurer; Fern Roessler, press reporter; Joyce Teinert, historian; and Virginia Shults, parliamentarian. New volunteer members, Kitty Wilson, Delores McGaugh, Charlotte Swoboda and Karen Huvar were introduced and welcomed by the president.
Committee reports were heard from Marge Rode. Gift shop business has been good, and she will be going to market in June. Pat Godfrey, memorials, sent four get-well cards, four sympathy cards and one funeral was attended. Knebel, newsletter, is searching for a compatible computer program to print the newsletter. Shaw and Teinert will prepare special projects for July Fourth napkin holder tray favors. Mary Evelyn Hillmer, telephone, needs more members to assist making calls to members. Peggy Brockenbush, scholarship, said qualified applicants will be reviewed and selected after Victoria College fall registration. A generous donation was received from the Crouch family to support five additional nursing scholarships.
Citizens HealthPlex will receive a $50,000 donation to assist replacing worn treadmills. A $600 donation will be made to support the October Breast Cancer Awareness Walk or bunco event. The volunteers purchased candy and assembled 1,300 candy-filled mugs for employee recognition during Hospital Week. The May 23-24 Masquerade jewelry sales fundraiser was a success.
Pat Godfrey won the jar filled with peanut M&M's in the guessing contest. The table prayer was given by Raymond Smith. A bountiful catered lunch was served and enjoyed. The next meeting is scheduled in August.
