Victoria College recently welcomed new faculty and staff for the spring semester. Among them are: Marcela Barrera, workforce and continuing education program specialist; Diana Blough, campus police and security administrative assistant; Arnold Ecle, Calhoun County Center security officer; Albert Gonzales, custodian; Rose Goehring, Cuero Vocational Nurse instructor; and Allyson Hibbard, VC/UHV Library technical assistant.
Photographer Randy Pollard received the Photographic Craftsman degree from Professional Photographers of America.
Sandra McNeely, an assistant clinical professor in the University of Houston-Victoria School of Nursing, recently received a substantial nursing education scholarship from the National League for Nursing Foundation.
Natalie O'Dea was hired as a certification analyst for the University of Houston-Victoria School of Education and Human Development. She helps transfer students create a degree plan that fits with their previous course work. Before working at UHV, she was a mediator for a law firm in Colorado.
Jennifer Ortiz-Garza joined the University of Houston-Victoria School of Arts and Sciences as a psychology lecturer. She teaches several undergraduate face-to-face classes, ranging from "Introduction to Psychology" to more advanced courses.
Three University of Houston-Victoria faculty members were part of a team from Victoria that recently completed a 16-hour professional development workshop in The Woodlands. Participants learned about math education to help support students in college and career readiness. The team leader was Barba Patton, an associate professor of mathematics education in the UHV School of Education and Human Development. Also attending from UHV were Estella De Los Santos, a professor of mathematics education and Ricardo Teixeira, director of the UHV math program.
