Cinco de Mayo invitation, municipal loan approved

The Goliad City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved inviting delegates from Hidalgo, Mexico, Goliad's sister city, to the Cinco de Mayo celebrations May 3-4.
The council will discuss the possibility of providing Hidalgo with money for expenses at the March 19 meeting, said Mayor Jay Harvey, such as providing hotel rooms.
He said the delegation has brought bands and folklorico dancers for the celebration in the past.
The council also unanimously approved a Municipal Development Board loan to ANS Welding Supplies and Services in the amount of $32,000, with the a 3-percent interest rate and credits up to $10,500 to the company for employing Goliad residents.
