The court date between Goliad County and the U.S. Navy over the value of the airbase is scheduled July 8 in federal court.
"Both sides are challenging each other's appraisal, so that is what we will be doing now. Making challenges and answering them," said County Judge David Bowman. "I hope it will come to a conclusion in July and doesn't draw on after."
Goliad County bought the airport, originally built by the Navy in the 1970s and known as the Chase Naval Air Station Auxiliary Landing Field Berclair, from the Navy in 1999 for $1, said Bob Torres, public affairs officer for the Navy, according to Advocate archives.
In summer 2011, the Navy bought back the airfield from the county, offering $2.36 million.
However, Bowman said another appraisal company valued the airport at $9 million and Goliad wants the value raised.
