VICTORIA - Our Saviour's Lutheran Church is looking for sponsors for the fifth annual Springfest to raise money for area charities, including Restoration House Ministries and Sole Hope Ministries.
"For the last four years, Springfest has given the people of this community good barbecue and great family fun while we raised thousands of dollars for some very worthwhile causes," said Alan B. Carroll, Springfest Committee chairman.
Last year, he noted the event raised about $40,000.
Along with the barbecue, the April 28 event will include live entertainment, live and silent auctions, children's activities, a bounce castle, cake wheel, cup raffle and country store full of crafts and homemade baked goods.
Events will run from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 4102 N. Ben Jordan St.
"To make this event a success for the ministries we are supporting, we need partners in the community to help by donating auction items, helping us spread the word and by supporting Springfest financially," Carroll said.
He noted a special need for gift cards for the cup raffle.
Auction items of all shapes and sizes are greatly appreciated, he said.
This year, the group is rolling out new sponsorship packages ranging from $25 to $5,000. This year's beneficiaries change lives in the area and around the world, Carroll said. Restoration House Ministries is a Christian-based, residential counseling facility for women. Sole Hope gathers shoes to send to children in Africa, where most transportation is accomplished by walking long distances.
