Editor, the Advocate:
The Christian religion is growing in some parts of the world, but in America, it is in decline. In America, materialism, a negative media, anti-Christian organizations and the removal of religion from the public schools has taken its toll.
The fact is: We are not keeping up with the times. New pastors coming on line need to shape their message to reach the younger generation. Those churches that don't adapt to changing times find themselves with an aging congregation and financial problems.
My message is: It's time to reinstate the Victoria Ministerial Alliance, which was discontinued some time ago. Victoria's pastors need to work together these days to think creatively and find ways of reaching the young. Christianity is a faith that makes sense, and our message must be up-to-date and convincing. Many community events could be undertaken if we all work together instead of competing.
