A 79-year-old Port Lavaca woman died Wednesday afternoon after a two-car collision in north Victoria.
Barbara McCarn was driving a 2006 Cadillac east on Salem Road with her husband Bobby McCarn, 78, when a 2012 Cadillac CTS sedan traveling south on the frontage road off Zac Lentz Parkway collided with their vehicle, said Herschel Buck, traffic safety officer for the Victoria Police Department.
McCarn made a complete stop at the stop sign but failed to yield to the other vehicle traveling south, Buck said as part of a preliminary report.
The crash, which killed Barbara McCarn, occurred at 3:42 p.m.
Four people were taken to Citizens Medical Center, including the driver of the 2012 Cadillac, Lydia Garza, 44, of Victoria, and her daughter, Marlena Garza, 5, and Bobby McCarn, who was admitted to the hospital for observation.
The Garzas were taken to Citizens for injuries that were considered non-life-threatening.
As of Wednesday evening, Bobby McCarn was listed in stable condition, Buck said.
Emergency responders pried open the car doors to rescue the McCarns.
Garza did not have time to stop before the collision, which is evident by the degree of damage to both vehicles, Buck said.
