Flyers go 1-1 at Weimar tournament

WEIMAR - St. Joseph baseball split a pair of games at the Weimar tournament on Thursday at Veterans Memorial Park Strickland Field.
The Flyers (11-7) dropped a 13-0 decision to La Grange before taking a 7-0 win over Weimar.
Jerry Vasquez doubled for one of St. Joseph's two hits against La Grange in a game that went six innings because of the 10-run mercy rule.
Michael Brawner yielded five hits and struck out 10 in the Flyers' win over Weimar in a game that was stopped after six innings because of the tournament time limit.
Eric Alvarez led St. Joseph at the plate, going 4 for 4 with a triple, double and a RBI. Alvarez also scored two runs and stole two bases.
Matt Perez added two hits, including a double, and scored two runs, and Sam Poland had two hits, a RBI and scored a run.
The Flyers will play for the consolation championship Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
