Decora Study Club elects officers

Decora Study Club met on Feb. 26 at the Victoria Women's Club House. The meeting was called to order by President Jo Cornstubble. The collect was lead by Rosemary Tucker. The pledge to the United States flag and the pledge to the Texas flag were repeated in unison.

Program chairwoman of the day, Jane Cox, introduced Mary Caulkins, a native Texan. Caulkins is a graduate of Texas Christian University. She spoke on the "Wonders of the Beach." When she lived in North Carolina, she discovered her love for the sea. She worked for Carolina Ocean Studies and gave programs to adults and students on crabbing, marsh exploration and exploring beach intertidal zones. Her presentation was very interesting as she explained the different kinds of shells and the life processes of shell animals. There are a lot of the same shells in the Gulf of Mexico as in the Atlantic Ocean. Mary Caulkins' program was very enjoyable.

Membership Chairwoman Mary Ann Wright reported 38 members and one guest present.

The social committee, Davonna West and Margaret Vaughn, reported Friendship Day will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday with Bronte Club in charge. Decora Club is in charge of the refreshments.

Doreta Keith, program chairman, announced that at the next meeting, March 12, Mary Virginia Jacobs will present the program.

It was announced the spring convention will be in Beeville, and eight Decora members are going. Members are encouraged to go. The membership voted to pay the registration fee and for the luncheon of the members going to the convention.
