Shiner FFA Stock Show nets $189,000

Even with five fewer animals exhibited, the 2013 Shiner FFA Stock Show auction brought in about the same amount of money as the 2012 show.
Bruce Pohler, Shiner FFA faculty sponsor, said the 2013 sale brought in $189,437.25 in animal sales.
Matt Lerch sold the 1,101-pound grand champion steer for $5.40 a pound, or $5,945.40, to Spoetzl Brewery.
Jacob Stafford showed the reserve champion steer, a 1,106-pounder, and sold it for $5,961.34 ($5.39 per pound) to Eagle Ford Hunter/Magnum Hunter Resources and Boedeker Plastics.
The grand champion hog of Sabrina Garcia sold for $4,535 to Maeker Processing, Ronnie Chumchal Insurance, H-E-B Yoakum, Schaefer Crop Insurance, Guadalupe Valley Veterinary Clinic, Pietsch Wealth Management, American Legion Post 201, Chandler Drilling, Kaspar Wire Works, Ranch Hand Truck Accessories, Spoetzel Brewery-Shiner Beer, Tiger Tote, Kelly Mudd Equipment Company, Simplot-Hallettsville, Hallettsville Livestock Commission, Gonzales Livestock Market, John Stuart Fryer, Leon and Joyce Svetlik, Sheriff Micah Harmon and County Judge Tramer Woytek.
Michael Lawrence showed the reserve champion hog, selling it for $4,443.53 to Jim Clark & Associates.
Jonathon Albrecht exhibited the grand champion lamb and sold the 136-pounder for $28 a pound, or $3,808, to Shiner Nursing and Rehabilitation, Dr. August Darilek and Dr. Maurice Wilkinson, Dusty and Dee Barker, Oak Valley Ranch and Shiner Animal Hospital.
The reserve champion lamb of Jessica Mauric weighed in at 155 pounds and sold for $27.99 per pound, or $4,338.45, to Shiner Dental, First State Bank-Yoakum, Community Bank of Moulton, Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, Wendel Motor Co., Pokluda Construction, Wood's Body & Fender Shop, Fikac Distributing, Heiman's Station, 10th Inning, Boedeker Ag Supply, Allen Bayer, Don and Gina Valis, Harold and Lisa Koenning, Reg and Amy Othold, Kenny and Robbie Caka, Jack and Linda Wooley, The Bunch, Faulkner's Cleaners, Lavaca County Propane, Werner's Restaurant, Bar and Catering and Jake Kram Insurance Agency.
Hannah Nevlud had the grand champion pen of broilers. The pen sold for $3,000 to Penn Virginia Oil & Gas.
The reserve champion pen of broilers, exhibited by Jody Rodgers, sold for $2,999.99 to Lone Star Bank, Wendel Jewelry, Boehm Tractor, Shiner Dental, Shiner Restaurant & Bar, Paul and Delise Koone, Shield Tactical of Shiner and Green Acres Outdoors.
