Two trucks collide on US Highway 77

Two men were taken  Citizens Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries after a collision. Two trucks - a tractor-trailer hauling fish and a tractor-trailer  hauling produce - were traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 77 about 2:30 p.m. Saturday when they collided near the crossover near Stubbs School Road, said Roger Hempel, battalion chief with the Victoria Fire Department.

Saturday when they collided near the crossover near Stubbs School Road, said Roger Hempel, battalion chief with the Victoria Fire Department.

Stephen Gray, a trooper with the Texas Department of Public Safety, said it appears the truck hauling fish was in the outside lane when the driver decided to make a U-turn and the other truck struck him.

Although a small fire erupted in the truck hauling fish, Hempel said by-standers extinguished the flames. No citations were immediately issued, but Gray said the crash remained under investigation.
