Goliad Livestock Show sets new record

Carson Dohmann's grand champion steer helped the Goliad County Livestock Show reach record-setting numbers March 16.

Dohmann, 12, a member of ASKM 4-H Club, secured $9,000 for his Charolais cross.

In total, the show raised $265,398, said County Extension Agent Brian Yanta, $51,998 more than 2012's record of $213,399.81.

Dohmann's buyers included Beeville and Nixon Livestock Commission; Jack and Leslie Crews; Ag Med Supply; Coles Kids; Tim Meyer Ag Service; Rodney and Dawn Butler; Hoff Angus Ranch; HADCO Group; Bellows Operating; Streakin' F Helicopters; Coleto Creek Wireless Internet; BFM Air Conditioning; Destry and Pam Gruetzmacher; Turn Works; Glenn and Mary Claire Bradshaw; Law Offices of Brent Dornburg; Shawn and Jackie Hoff; Lyle and Rae Jean Hoff and The Wild Bunch.

The reserve champion steer was shown by Kelly Thomas, 12, of Schroeder 4-H Club. It was bought by OK Hein Ranch for $6,000.

The grand champion goat was shown by Kimberly Kocian, 13, of Schroeder 4-H Club. It was purchased for $6,500 by Choctaw Lease Service.

Tallis Butler, 14, of Berclair 4-H showed the reserve champion goat. It was sold for $6,499.99 and purchased by Berry Contracting; Beeville-Nixon Livestock Commission; Kyle and Gayle Mansker; Gary and Charlene Butler; Gary and Lana Jarzombek; Diamond T. Cattle Co.; Law Offices of Brent Dornburg; Haws Club Lambs; Area Go Texan and Young Guns.

The grand champion turkey was shown by Matthew Kutz, 9, of Stampede 4-H. It was sold for $5,300 and purchased by Tim Meyer Ag Service; Jack and Leslie Crews; Bum Phillips Charities; Dynasty Enterprises; Guadalupe County Farm Bureau; Bluebonnet Dodge; Seguin Cattle Co.; D&D Farm and Ranch; HADCO Group; Ag Med Supply; John and Nicole Friedrichs; Law Offices of Brent Dornburg; Rodney and Dawn Butler; E.J. Bammert and Dwayne and Hattie Jo Machicek.

Jacob Hahn, 12, of Stampede 4-H, showed the reserve champion turkey. It was purchased by Choctaw Lease Service for $3,000.

The grand champion pen of broilers was shown by Matthew Haney, 15, of Lakewood 4-H. It sold for $4,550 and was purchased by Choctaw Lease Service; The Wild Bunch; Coles Kids; Dwayne and Hattie Jo Machicek; Glenn and Mary Claire Bradshaw; Young Guns and David Dohmann.

The reserve champion pen of broilers was shown by Garrett Haney, 18, of Lakewood 4-H. It sold for $4,499.99 and was purchased by Choctaw Lease Service; Grace Funeral Home; The Wild Bunch; Coles Kids; Coleto Creek Power; Dwayne and Hattie Jo Machicek; Glenn and Mary Claire Bradshaw and the Goliad Feed Company.

The grand champion pen of rabbits was shown by Ashlyn Davis, 11, of Weesatche 4-H. It sold for $6,350 and was purchased by Ag Med Supply; John Morgan and Mary Kathryn O'Brien; Gary Frasuer and Jimmie Sue Chiuminatto; Linda's Main Street Cafe; Destry and Pam Gruetzmacher; Law Offices of Brent Dornburg; Turn Works; The Wild Bunch; Coles Kids; Glenn and Mary Claire Bradshaw; Lyle and Rae Jean Hoff; B Bar D Ranch; Goliad Funeral Home; Jack and Leslie Crews; Beeville and Nixon Livestock Commission and Area Go Texan.

Hayden Reitz, 12, of Weesatche 4-H, showed the reserve champion pen of rabbits. It sold for $6,349.99 and was purchased by Betty Bauer; Beeville and Nixon Livestock Commission; Bellows Operating; Law Offices of Brent Dornburg; First Victoria Bank; FVP Investments; American Bank; Tim Meyer Ag Service; Deb Bauer; Destry and Pam Gruetzmacher; Glenn and Mary Claire Bradshaw; Trey and Leslie Moeller; Hoff Angus Ranch; Richard and Kathy Ball; Ag Med Supply; Gary and Lana Jarzombek and Streakin' F Helicopters.

The grand champion hog was shown by Tessa Ross, 12, of Goliad 4-H. It was sold for $11,000 and was purchased by Myers Welding Service; Buddy and Eunice, Justin and Christiana of Shelton Fencing; The Wild Bunch; Streakin' F Helicopters; T. J. Ross; Nick Livestock Services; Coles Kids; Grace Funeral Home; Area Go Texan; Wexford Cattle Company; Richard and Kathy Ball; Roland Capistran; Wesley and Allison Ball; BFM Air Conditioning; Destry and Pam Gruetzmacher; Law Offices of Brent Dornburg; Zavesky Enterprises; Sheriff Kirby Brumby and Robbie and Carissa Camacho of TRC Outfitters.

The reserve champion hog was shown by Logan Capistran, 11, of Stampede 4-H. It sold for $7,800 and was purchased by G3 Cattle Co.; Bellows Operating; Roland Capistran; Zavesky Enterprises; The Wild Bunch; Grace Funeral Home; Buddy and Eunice, Justin and Christiana of Shelton Fencing; Wimberly Boys; T. J. Ross; Dwayne and Hattie Jo Machicek; Coleto Creek Power; Ag Med Supply; Wexford Hunting; BFM Air Conditioning; John and Nicole Friedrichs; Benito and Monica Moya; Sheriff Kirby Brumby; Young Guns and Kassidy Bego.

The grand champion lamb was shown by Jadan Butler, 11, of Berclair 4-H. It sold for $11,500 and was purchased by Nick Livestock Services; Berry Contracting; Ag Med Supply; Kyle and Gayle Mansker; Beeville and Nixon Livestock Commission; Garcia Cattle Company; Gary and Lana Jarzombek; Law Offices of Brent Dornburg; Blue Ribbon Investors; Diamond T Cattle Co; Haws Club Lambs and The Wild Bunch.

The reserve champion lamb was shown by Tuffy Dornburg, 12, of Weesatche 4-H. It was purchased by Goliad Feed Co. and Mammas Procast Concrete for $5,000.
