BEEVILLE - The Texas Mile asks its participants only one question: How fast can you go?

For 10 years now, Jay and Shannon Matus have organized the racing event that draws participants from around the country and the world. An event that got its start with just a few racers in 2003 has grown this year to 220 drivers and thousands of spectators

Participants in fast cars, motorcycles and trucks line up to try and top the fastest speed, which entering the event was 263.3 mph by Mark Heidaker in Hennessey Ford GT from the fall.

The event is now held twice annually, with the next one at the end of October.
