Club will observe Founder's Day
Laureate Alpha Omicron Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi met recently in the home of Tootsie Cisneros with Frances Smith presiding.
Ruth Bone and Marcy Turk served as co-hostesses.
Bone presented the program, "Gobbledygoop," which means doublespeak. Domestic engineer would be a housewife; media courier would be a newspaper deliverer; a predawn vertical insertion would be an invasion with parachutes, etc. Fiscal underachievers are bums and economically non-affluent are the poor.
Members were invited to attend the lunch and style show sponsored by Xi Psi Tau on April 24.
Founder's Day will be observed Saturday, April 30, at Sky Restaurant at 6:30 p.m.
The chapter will attend the fall play and luncheon at the Gaslight Theatre in Shiner. An olive orchard tour next spring was also chosen as a chapter day-trip.
Parliamentarian Louise Pletcher read from the book of Beta Sigma Phi on parliamentary procedure.
New officers were elected as follows: Frances Smith, president; Turk, vice president; Loretta Johnson, recording secretary; Joann Locher, corresponding secretary; Jeanette Goggans, treasurer; Dorothy Koenig, extension officer; Pletcher, parliamentarian; Delores Kaspar, city council representative; and Sue Lynn Hatcher, city council alternate.
The chapter will set up for the April 5-6 garage sale April 1 at the Locher home.
The next meeting will be April 2 at the Goggans' home.
