Jacob Silgero continues to improve his bowling skill and has another big series to show for it.

While competing in the Sundowner League, he bowled games of 255, 236 and 236 for a 726 series and earn the weekly high honors.

The young, right-handed bowler employs a thumbless release that creates a tremendous amount of revolutions to promote strike carry. The main drawback to this type of release is consistency, and Silgero seems to be getting better as he completes his second year of USBC competition.

He is scheduled to bowl in the Texas State USBC Open and the USBC Open Nationals in April and June, which will be a great opportunity to measure his progress away from home lane conditions.

Randy Vivero rolled the second high series with a 257 high game complementing his 697 total.

Other scores of note for the men were Mike Stacy (696/254-671), Charles Aiken (678), Tony Bennett (258-672), Calvin Bigham (247-662), T.J. Mooney (253-655), Gary Kohl (655), Tom Crowe (247-654), Matthew Church (246-654), John Oswalt (265-654), Darryl Mergele (653), David Flores (652), Robert Gonzales (652), Rick Bassano (280), Kenny Schupbach (279), Willie Reyna (258), Jesse Longoria (257), Don Marques (248) and Jordan Glass (248).

Samantha Wharton was also competing in the Sundowner League when she bowled a great 248 middle game to help with the women's high 616 set. She added games of 173 and 195 for her total.

Trudy Wortham with a 215-606 and Joanna Sanders with 221-602 also broke the 600 mark.

Other nice scores for the women were Lynda Mikulec (213-597), Ida Caballero (236-596), Patricia Bellanger (593) and Bailey Koebrick (588).

Senior bowler Carol Goode rolled a very nice 225 game and 578 series.

Vera Cruz Restaurant bowlers of the week are John Oswalt (782) and Patricia Bellanger, both from the Sugar & Spice League.

The Century Lanes will host the 29th Victoria Senior Mixed Tournament on April 20 and 21.

Entry forms will be available soon. To be eligible, a bowler must be at least 55 years of age and have a Victoria USBC book average.

Scott Norton won the Earl Anthony PBA Players Championship last Sunday for his second win of the season.

ESPN will televise the Tournament of Champions next Sunday at 1:30 P.M. to wrap up the winter season broadcasts.
