Ray Salazar, assistant director of engineering at Citizens Medical Center, was recently presented the Patriotic Employer award from the office of the secretary of defense.
He was nominated by Sgt. 1st Class Arthur Perez, Army National Guard and employee of Citizens, who wrote: "My boss has been an exceptional patriot allowing me to serve my country on two deployments. A lot of employers do not hold your position till you return, but he did. My boss, Ray Salazar, and supervisor, Joe Espindola, both deserve some form of recognition. Without their support, my mission to serve my country and return to my job would not have been possible."
Originally from Goliad and now residing in Victoria, Salazar has been employed with Citizens Medical Center for 28 years. Taking part in the presentation of the award are, from left, David Brown, Citizens Medical Center administrator; Tom Rendon with the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve; Salazar, assistant director of engineering at Citizens; and Perez.
