With its founding in 1846, First Victoria National Bank is Texas' oldest independent bank, said Tom Curtis, the company's senior vice president of marketing. And while the place might be getting up in age, it hasn't lost its touch.
First Victoria was voted the Crossroads' best financial institution in the Advocate's 2013 Best of the Best contest.
It's the personal service that helps the bank stand out, Curtis said.
All lending decisions take place in Victoria since this is the company's headquarters, he said, and the company is focused on incorporating technology and innovation into what it offers.
"We pretty much can offer all the products and services the big banks can offer," he said. "But we still consider ourselves a community bank."
Community involvement also helps, Curtis said, noting First Victoria supports nonprofit groups and sponsors its own events.
He said the win means a lot to the entire staff.
"We really appreciate everyone that went out and voted for Best of the Best and voted for us," he said. "We won't let you down."
