Whether it's a peaked pup, an ailing iguana or any issue in between, Dr. John Beck enjoys helping an animal in need.
"It's hard work, but it's worthwhile," he said. "This is such a great profession."
Beck was named the Crossroads' best veterinarian in the Advocate's 2013 Best of the Best contest. This is his third year winning.
The animal lover got his start in the industry 30 years ago, although he said it still feels like yesterday.
He attributed the win to hard work by a strong team and said he could never do it alone.
Beck said he wanted to thank the staff and clients who make his job a rewarding one.
"I have wonderful patients, too. Even though some bite me," he said with a laugh. "We still love them."
