The festival that knocked everybody's boots off this past year was BootFest.
After its second run in downtown Victoria, the young festival's smashing success won the vote of readers in the Advocate's 2013 Best of the Best competition.
"A lot of us pitched in together and worked together," said Joel Novosad, communications and services manager with the Victoria Convention and Visitors Bureau. "We were excited when we even heard that we were nominated."
Novosad said that their win has raised the bar for 2013's BootFest.
"It's a lot of work for two days," Novosad said. "Everybody made it such a well-run and secure event that people felt like they could bring their families here. That's why they like it so much."
BootFest organizers plan on maintaining the western theme and bringing in more area acts to the mix.
"We're always interested in adding a little variety to our acts," he said. "We're looking for more local flavor to BootFest. Victoria is a diverse town."
