What city can go from 3,000 people to 100,000 in one day?
The answer may or may not surprise you - Port Aransas.
This coastal community, with its beautiful Gulf waters and sandy shores has won over the hearts of Crossroads residents who voted it the best beach in the area for the 2013 Best of the Best contest.
"We draw people from all over the state, and even nationally and internationally," Ann Vaughan, president and chief executive officer of the Port Aransas Chamber of Commerce. said. "Port Aransas runs the gamut."
Each year, the community sees anywhere from 4 million to 5 million tourists, she said.
The beach offers fishing, kayaking, parasailing, kite boarding and dolphin watching, just to name a few.
Plus, a $12 pass good for use year-round allows you to park along the beach. You can even camp for three days at a time right on the beach, she said.
"It's a very unique destination," she said.
