Dairy Treet was voted best hamburger by Advocate readers in the 2013 Best of the Best competition.

There is only one Dairy Treet. Perched on the corner of Laurent and Crestwood streets, the walk-up restaurant is a staple for Advocate readers. They voted the Dairy Treet best hamburger in the 2013 Best of the Best competition.

Grilling burgers since 1955, the cooks at Dairy Treet must have it down to science.

"Everything is made fresh daily," manager Irma Perez said. "We have an old-fashioned style that's not like Burger King."

The restaurant offers five different styles of burgers on its menu in addition to other favorites, including their homemade sherbet.

She said the most popular burger is the double meat, double cheese burger, but she sticks with the regular burger with everything but onions.

"We appreciate our customers and are glad to be chosen," she said. "I hope they keep coming back."
