The Holiday Inn Express was voted the best hotel in the Advocate's 2013 Best of the Best competition.

The 76 rooms at Victoria's Holiday Inn Express book up pretty fast and will hopefully continue to do so in the future, despite the opening of other accommodations in the region, regional manager Charles Grant said.

That's perhaps because the hotel has extra amenities, such as a refrigerators, microwaves, Tempur-Pedic mattresses, humidity friendly air conditioning units, DVD players and 42-inch flat-screen TVs in each room plus one additional perk.

"We have the best management team in the world ... We took an internal vote and we voted ourselves the best management," Grant said, chuckling.

Some recent examples of this, he said, were hiring a John Wayne impersonator for a resident's 100th birthday party and hunting down gluten-free bread for a guest who couldn't tolerate it.

"Whatever we're doing right, we don't plan to discontinue," Grant said.
