DeWitt County Justice of the Peace Bill Robinson has officially ruled the manner of death of a Cuero woman who died in a car crash Monday as suicide.

"After doing more investigating after the fact, including receiving more law enforcement reports, I am ruling it a suicide," Robinson said.

At the scene Monday morning, the justice of the peace initially ruled the manner of death of Nichole Lynn Rhoades, 20, as accidental.

The Texas Department of Public Safety completed its investigation of the crash and determined it was not an accident and turned the case over to the DeWitt County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff's investigator Sgt. Carl Bowen confirmed the sheriff's office was satisfied with the judge's ruling.

The crash occurred about 3:30 a.m. Monday on U.S. Highway 183 south of Cuero.
