Susan and I are in Minnesota, the land of the frozen lakes, one of which we walked on yesterday.
We are here with intentions of completing one item on our bucket list - to visit all 50 states.
We have been to 49 so far, and North Dakota, which we will drive to today, will be the 50th and last.
I am sure you all have a bucket list of some sort, and some of you have something artistic you would like to try.
Spring is a time of new beginnings, a perfect time to start that creative endeavor.
Maybe we can help you at the Victoria Art League to accomplish this. We have many things to offer in the coming months.
Paint the Town continues its classes with Eunice Collins spearheading the times and dates. Contact her at 361-576-4043 to get your spot booked.
Besides classes, Eunice also offers special parties and times with children.
This month, Gerald Bienvenu from Rockport will teach watercolor workshops 10 a.m.-noon for children and 1-4 p.m. for adults May 20-22. Contact him at 205-393-9455 or email at Geraldbienvenu@dellsouth.net.
Jim Feig is offering a beginner's digital photography class Tuesdays starting Tuesday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. for four weeks. Contact Jim at 361- 576-0578.
Sonny Timme continues adult classes Mondays and Wednesdays; contact him at 361-578-8722.
Michele Evans continues children's classes Monday-Thursday.
Her summer classes are posted in our newsletter (VictoriaArtLeague.net). Please contact Michele for details by calling 361-649-8092 or email at email@example.com.
Desiree Yates will teach high school basic pencil drawing June 18-21. Contact her at 361-649-5813 for more information on cost and times.
William Vickery from Edna will have a stained glass class in June as soon as enough have registered. Contact him at 361-235-2416 for more information on times and cost.
We had an outstanding response to our Youth Art Show and hope you were able to visit our gallery and view the fantastic art the youth from the Crossroads area created. The winners were listed in the Advocate last month, and we want to congratulate all the winners.
The People's Choice awards were just announced. Winners were: elementary division, Makayla Chavana; middle school, Zoie Lowery; and high school, Alexis Lopez.
We want to thank everyone who has been so generous with the continuing restoration of our historical art league building.
This month, Easley Construction should complete reroofing and repairing the area over our gallery. None of our restorations would have been possible without your support.
We have more to do, but we have come a long way thanks to you.
So in closing, check your bucket list to see if this might be a time and place for the Art League to check something off.
