Retiring VC professor to be honored, roasted for 48 years teaching

Michael Hummel, longtime professor at Victoria College, will be honored at a Retirement Roast and Toast on May 14.

Hummel has been at Victoria College for 50 years, two as a student and 48 as a professor. He has also served on the Victoria Symphony's board of directors since it was founded almost 40 years ago.

The event will feature addresses by Melvin Lack, Penni Gietz, Karen Haynes and Jimmy Goodson. Ronald Walker will be the emcee.

A reception will be at 6 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. with dinner in the Victoria College Student Center.

Dress is business attire.

The deadline to purchase tickets is Wednesday. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Victoria Symphony Society Endowment Trust.
