2 die in small plane crash in Hill Country

FREDERICKSBURG (AP) — Authorities say a small plane has crashed less than a mile from the runway of a Texas Hill Country airport, killing both people aboard.

The Texas Department of Public Safety was notified shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday that a Cessna 182 went down near Fredericksburg, about 60 miles north of San Antonio.

Fredericksburg city spokeswoman Juli Bahlinger says the aircraft crashed in a pasture near the city's airport. The Federal Aviation Administration says the single-engine plane had departed Spinks Airport in Fort Worth.

A DPS report lists the identities of the dead as 43-year-old Donald Frosch and 41-year-old Jeane Frosch, both of Mansfield.

Investigators for the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are en route to the scene.
