A 59-year-old Port Lavaca woman was assaulted Tuesday about 6:20 a.m. in the area of Jackson Street and Purple Sage Drive in Port Lavaca.
Port Lavaca Police Chief James Martinez said the woman was exercising when the assault was reported.
He said she was initially transported to Memorial Medical Center but was later taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro.
As of 6:20 p.m. Tuesday, no one had been arrested.
The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, Texas Department of Criminal Justice and Texas Rangers are assisting with the investigation.
Martinez could not comment about the type of assault or the severity of her injuries and said it was too early in the investigation to release additional details.
