St. Edward's tops Texas A&M-Kingsville in final

KINGSVILLE - St. Edward's clinched a berth in the NCAA Division II College World Series with a 7-1 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in the championship game of the South Central Regional baseball tournament Sunday at Nolan Ryan Field.
The Hilltoppers improved to 42-18 and will head to Cary, N.C., for the championship tournament.
The Javelinas finished at 42-17 and broke the previous school record of 38 wins.
Flatonia graduate Dallas Ponder (10-1) was the starting pitcher for A&M-Kingsville and suffered his first loss of the season.
Memorial graduate Jeremy Flores, who set school records for saves in a season (14) and career (23) pitched the final two innings.
