A woman and her three children escaped injury early Monday morning when a large oak tree fell on their Cuero mobile home.

The DeWitt County Sheriff's Office responded to the call at 4:24 a.m. at 904 S. Esplanade St. in the Rivercrest RV Park, according to DCSO records.

The tree fell on the rear of the mobile home on top of the children's bedroom, but the children were sleeping in their mother's room, according to the sheriff's office report

The incident was the second involving a Cuero mobile home in less than 24 hours.

At 6:30 a.m. Sunday, a vacant mobile home in the 300 block of T.L. Overture Street was destroyed by fire, said Cuero Fire Department Chief Butch Tolbert.

"The trailer had been vacant for two or three years, and the owner is deceased," Tolbert said. "The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is under investigation."

Firefighters were on scene until about 8 a.m.
