City needs to extend hours to help economy
Editor, the Advocate:
I have been a realtor in Port Lavaca for 40 years, and the population has not grown much. Do you know the tax revenue of jobs that new businesses will bring to Calhoun County? We want good, positive growth for our city. The Applebee's business is only one new business that will lead the way for others to follow.
Remember, if someone needs to drink, a two o'clock closing is irrelevant. People can drink anytime. If someone needs to drink in excess, one needs God in his or her life instead of alcohol.
If you need to sign a petition, you need to also pay the $10,000 needed to fund the election. That $10,000 could be used in the city on roads, water, sewer lines, parks, etc. Support progress and help in our city's growth. Look to the future for a better tomorrow for future Port Lavacans. Don't stop economic development and jobs.
