Garage sale signs help more than just sellers

May 22, 2013 at 12:22 a.m.

Editor, the Advocate:

There are many residents who can't afford Internet and newspapers. They rely on signs on the main streets to show where the garage sales are.

Visitors from area towns aren't familiar with street locations; they use the signs. Most of us don't have GPS in our cars and phones.

This town has a lot of people who make $10 an hour or less. They can clothe their family at garage sales for the cost of one new item at a store. This recycles and helps the landfill. Estate sales may be used to cover medical and burial expenses. The city gets revenue when you buy your permit.

Without signs on the main streets, you don't get the amount of customers you need and the visitors from area towns.

Give us our signs for 72 hours and pick them up after the sale is over. While you do this, pick up the political signs. They are an eyesore.
