Sacred Heart Parish hosting annual spring picnic

HALLETTSVILLE - The 131st Sacred Heart Parish Spring Picnic will be Sunday at the Knights of Columbus Hall.

As part of the fundraising effort, a raffle will feature the grand prize of a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Tickets are available for a $100 donation, and only 625 will be sold.

The day starts with lunch of country-fried chicken, stew and homemade cornbread dressing with all the trimmings served from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Plates to-go will be available until 1 p.m.

Adults eat for $8, children for $4.

Music on the main pavilion kicks off at 11 a.m. with the J&S Playboys until 1 p.m. A free dance featuring Red Ravens and the Jodie Mikula Orchestra will be from 1 to 9 p.m.

Inside the hall, bingo will run from noon to 6 p.m., and there will be a cakewalk, country store and religious articles booth.

Concessions will include hamburgers, French fries, funnel cakes and more.

An auction will begin at 1 p.m., including a handmade Lazy Susan, assorted collectible Barbie dolls, a portable outdoor gas grill and cattle.

The women of the Sacred Heart Quilting Circle will also have a number of hand-quilted items in the auction.

Children's rides and games will be available all afternoon.

The Sacred Heart Youth group is also sponsoring a Parakeet Plop.
