Changing drinking hours will hurt Port Lavaca
Editor, the Advocate:
The attack on the lady recently in one of our city parks is an indicator of how badly we need our law enforcement patrolling our neighborhoods and parks.
The City Council extending alcohol and beverage sales in bars does not help law enforcement. Mr. Cain, the council persons who extended these hours will be the ones responsible for the $10,000, not the Port Lavaca citizens, voters and taxpayers.
Law enforcement will be responding to more alcohol-related problems at the bars and spousal abuse at the drinkers' homes before and after closing and will be filling out forms for the remainder of shift instead of patrolling our neighborhoods and parks.
