Trends: Steers and heifers, steady/soft.

Steers: (200-300) $181-$235; (300-400) $129-$157; (400-500) $121-$152; (500-600) $109-$143; (600-700) $103-$126; and (700-800) $96-$112.

Heifers: (200-300) $155-$180; (300-400) $112-$165; (400-500) $103-$140; (500-600) $100-$134; (600-700) $96-$122; and (700-800) $82-$107.

Had 92 cows and 12 bulls. The packer market was steady with last week's market.

The calf market was steady with last week's market. This was a holiday shortened run. Thin steers appeared to be $1 to $5 higher while lighter calves may have been slightly lower. Solid market across the board with few holes in the market. As a rule, calves over 500 pounds were $1 to $6 better.

Packer bulls: Heavy weights, $88-$100; lower grades, $70-$85.

Packer cows: boning cows, $70-$84; canners and cutters, $80-$91; light and weak, $50-$65.

Palpated dry cows (9 bred cows): $84-$90; pairs (2): $950 and $1,010.

Compared to last week: The market this week was mostly steady to a little more active. Demand remains very good in most areas with the very fleshy calves seeing a little resistance.

Packer cows and bulls sold fully steady to $1 higher on about 140 head total.

Packer cows: Higher dressing utility and cutter cows, $75-$88; lower dressing utility and cutter cows, $63-$75; lightweight canner cows, $51-$63.

Packer bulls: Heavyweight bulls, $98-$101; utility and cutter bulls, $92-$98; lightweight canner bulls, $82-$92.
