St. Joseph outfielder and leadoff hitter Paige Terrell stole 48 bases this year, helping her earn her third straight all-state first-team honor. She will be heading to Coastal Bend College next year.

Paige Terrell has been one of the best TAPPS Class 4A softball players in the state for two consecutive seasons.

Now, it's three consecutive.

The St. Joseph senior outfielder was named to her third TAPPS All-State softball team Tuesday afternoon.

"That's a very good accomplishment for Paige," St. Joseph coach Rudy Diaz said. "She always competes with class and the type of ball player she is, she always respects the game, on and off the field."

In her final campaign as a Lady Flyer, Terrell recorded a .485 batting average and 48 stolen bases. Last week, The Beth Smith Award winner signed to play college softball with Coastal Bend College.

"She has a lot of discipline on the field," Diaz said. "She puts a lot of pride into what she does in the game."

Joining Terrell on the first team is infielder/pitcher sophomore Amanda Sohrt.

Sohrt finished with a 14-4 record inside the circle for St. Joseph, striking 87 batters and posting a 1.86 ERA. She also had a .333 batting average.

"Amanda is really aggressive on both offense and defense," Diaz said. "She has a real mental toughness to the game and once she steps on the field her mind is on the game."

Sophomore Alyssa Adames was named to the honorable mention team as an infielder and Mariah Clay Mariah Clay as a catcher. Adames had two home runs and seven doubles for the Lady Flyers and Clay posted a .363 batting average and 16 doubles.

Clay and Adames, along with Sohrt pitching, make up an infield that returns in 2014 fully intact.

"It's very promising," Diaz said. "Our goal again for 2014 will be to get back to state and take care of business. We're going to complete the mission we didn't finish his season."

The Lady Flyers' season came to an end in Waco against Fort Bend Christian in the TAPPS state semifinals.
