She is the first woman president of Hochheim. The announcement was made by David Mueller, chairman of the Hochheim Prairie Insurance board of directors.

Schmidt replaced Dave Talbert, who resigned to pursue other opportunities, according to a news release from the insurance company.

Schmidt has served as Hochheim's secretary-treasurer and chief financial officer since 2002. She was the accounting manager from 1990-2002 and started as an accountant with Hochheim in 1977.

Also Friday, Tim McCoy was named secretary-treasurer and chief financial officer of the company.

McCoy has been with Hochheim since 2002. He served as accounting manager from 2003-10, claims manager in 2011 and information technology manager from 2012-13.

He has also been active in the insurance industry for 17 years, including serving as chairman of the Audit Committee for the Texas Association of Mutual Insurance Companies.

"I am excited that Linda has accepted this position as president. She is an exceptional individual and gifted leader with 36 years of experience with Hochheim. I am also pleased that Tim will take over the role of secretary-treasurer, which enables the company to have a seamless management transition," Mueller said in the news release.

Talbert worked for Hochheim for 19 years.
