The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association presented 2012 chairwoman Cally Coleman Fromme, president and CEO of Zarsky Lumber Company, with the 2013 Grassroots Dealer of the Year award recently at the ProDealer Industry Summit in Nashville. Fromme earned the award for her efforts to help reintroduce the Innocent Sellers Fairness Act (HR 2746), a top legislative priority for association. The bill provides product liability protection to those businesses that sell products but did not manufacture them.

Eunice Mesa was recently named the September Employee of the Month at the University of Houston-Victoria. She is manager of Career Services and has worked at UHV since 2004. She received a framed certificate and a $50 gift card.

Russell Cain, of Port Lavaca, was named the Volunteer of the Year from Senate District 18 by the State Republican Executive Committee, and he was honored at a special event in Austin on Sept. 27.

Senior Helpers recognized the following caregivers for achieving levels of service with the company: Felicia Nations, bronze; Louise Riggs, both platinum and diamond levels, and Britney Bethke, bronze. Caregiver levels are based on the amount of service hours with the company as well as continuous training completed. Senior Helpers also announced Marianne Ribble is the November Caregiver of the Month. She has worked for Senior Helpers-Victoria since July.
