Hallettsville's soulful singer has made it to the Top 20 in NBC's "The Voice" singing competition show.
Preston Pohl, 26, has won his way through the battle and knockout rounds and left a few of the judges in awe following his rendition of "Nothing On You" by B.O.B. and Bruno Mars for his live show performance
"It's important to let someone do their thing and put their own stamp on it," said Adam Levine, Pohl's voice coach, on the show.
Once he finished, Pohl said it was "an honor to be here on 'The Voice'" and could do nothing else but smile on stage with Carson Daly.
Each judge was given a chance to comment on the performance and showered the hopeful singer with compliments.
Country singer Blake Shelton had nothing but praise for Pohl's delivery, pitch and talent on stage.
"It was studly," Shelton said on the show.
Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green agreed he did a wonderful job with the song. Green also commended Levine for doing such a great job as a voice coach.
Levine closed out the judges' comments by applauding his performance.
"No one sounds like Preston. ... You can't coach that," Levine said on the show.
During the live shows, the television audience will vote on the Top 12 performers who will continue on "The Voice."
After each performance, home viewers will vote for their favorite singers.
The two contestants with the lowest number of votes will be eliminated.
