Jada Whitby, left center, cheers for her team at the start of the game. Victoria East won in the fourth set 35 to 33 against Medina.

SEGUIN - Katlynne Wilson knew Tuesday's Class 4A bi-district playoff game could be her last in a Victoria East uniform.

The Lady Titans made the 92-mile trek to Seguin understanding last season they were one and done. But that was last season.

East successfully defeated Medina Valley 28-26,24-26,25-14,35-33 in Tuesday night.

"I was telling everybody we are not losing. We are going to fight till the end," the senior said. "It means everything. I want to go to state, that's my goal. That's pretty much everybody's dream on this team. That's what we're planning on doing."

Winning the match didn't look like a sure thing. The Lady Titans dropped the second game and struggled to put away Medina Valley.

"We just needed to put the ball down and we started doing that," said Lady Titans junior Alicia Hernandez. "They were adjusting and we adjust back too."

Making the playoffs was no small task for East. After defeating Tuloso-Midway and Gregory-Portland, the Lady Titans secured the fourth seed. Lady Titans coach Jamye Pauley said a win can start what she hopes to be a long playoff run.

"We never gave up. They could have,""Pauley said. "It's so big for us to see how far we've come and how hard we've worked and everything paying off."

Being a senior, Wilson saw the struggles the Lady Titans had in winning games. Those difficulties were wiped away with the win.

"We were just really good at battling," Wilson said. "Hopefully, we're going to go all the way."
