Lady Flyers head to state final

CORSICANA - St. Joseph is headed to the TAPPS 4A state title game Saturday.

The Lady Flyers defeated Sugar Land Fort Bend Christian in four games Thursday night to advance to their second straight TAPPS 4A state title game.

Lauren Kurtz had 22 kills, 16 digs and three aces to lead St. Joseph to a 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 25-14 victory.

Peyton Cuellar had 28 digs and 3 aces, Natalie Bales had 4 kills and 41 assists, Christine Janak had 15 kills and four blocks, and Lindsey Still finished with eight blocks.

St. Joseph will head into Saturday's state title game against Carrollton Prince of Peace Saturday with a 38-4 overall record.

Game time is set for 9 a.m. at Corsicana High School.
