Oil field fire causes no injuries
No injuries were reported after a Thursday night fire erupted at a Yorktown oil field.
The Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department was called about 11:30 p.m. to a fire off state Highway 119 North, said Darryl Borth, fire chief with the Yorktown Volunteer Fire Department.
Flames were visible when firefighters arrived, he said, explaining they appeared to be coming from the closed well.
Firefighters, including a crew from Karnes City, helped with traffic control as they awaited ConocoPhillips to get the blaze under control, Borth said.
He said it appears no one was on the site at the time the fire began.
