Victoria County sheriff's deputies recovered more than $40,000 in stolen items and drugs this week.

Authorities also arrested four people after a two-day investigation in which deputies found stolen firearms, lawn equipment, electronics, home appliances, two vehicles, assorted small items, illegal narcotics and prescription drugs.

Edward Tanner, 46, of Victoria, was arrested on suspicion of theft of property, two counts of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, burglary of a building and possession of a controlled substance.

Dean Berlin, 33, of Victoria, was arrested on suspicion of burglary of a habitation and having a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.

Valorie Bates, 46, of Victoria, was arrested for burglary of a habitation, and Jeremy Bates, 26, of Port Lavaca, was arrested on suspicion of theft of property and tampering or fabricating physical evidence.

The investigation is ongoing.

Deputies first responded to a burglary at a home on Brinkley Lane off Coletoville Road East on Tuesday. There, they stopped and searched a vehicle, where they found items that had been reported stolen, according to a sheriff's office news release.

Later, officials executed a search warrant at a house and discovered more items that had been reported stolen from previous burglaries.

Residents who think their stolen items are among those recovered are asked to call 361-575-0651.
