Organizers postpone downtown event because of expected cold weather

The approaching cold front is causing more than just a chill.

The first Victoria BlockParty slated for Saturday and Sunday in DeLeon Plaza was postponed because of the expected cold weather, organizers Bert and Pamela Jones of Lonestar Promotions and Events announced Tuesday.

The cooler temperatures and up to 25 mph winds in the forecast are enough to reschedule the event, Bert Jones said.

"We don't want the vendors and the bands to be out there in the cold," he said.

He is working with the city to reschedule the event for the spring, when the cold weather will not be a problem.

The free, two-day event was set to include food and market vendors and children's entertainment.
