Oil tanker overturns, driver hospitalized

Nov. 21, 2013 at 5:21 a.m.

A tanker carrying crude oil rolled over on Farm-to-Market Road 1432 between Victoria and Bloomington Thursday morning. The oil did not spill onto the roadway. A portion of FM 1432 was closed until the crash could be cleared.

A 64-year-old Bryan man will be cited for unsafe speed after overturning his oil tanker Thursday morning.

About 8 a.m., Ray Mack Truelove crashed the 2014 Kenworth tractor-trailer on Farm-to-Market Road 1432 near state Highway 185, said Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Trooper Gerald Bryant, who also said a citation will be issued.

A portion of FM 1432 was closed while the wreck was cleared. Highway 185 remained open.

The Victoria Fire Department cleaned up a small amount of engine oil that spilled in the crash.

None of the oil in the tanker leaked, said VFD Battalion Chief Roger Hempel.

Truelove was taken to DeTar Hospital Navarro where he was transferred. DeTar did not have the patient's permission to release the name of the transfer hospital, said spokeswoman Judith Barefield.

Trooper J.C. Collins investigated the crash.
