Victoria College's Lyceum Committee is seeking topic and speaker suggestions for the 2014-15 lecture series.
To ensure the broadest possible appeal for the series, the committee is requesting suggestions for speakers or topics from the community.
"Over the years, VC has established itself as a provider of events that enrich this community's quality of life," said Dave Ticen, chairman of the VC Lyceum Committee. "The Lyceum series, with its history of compelling contributions, serves as a good example of one of the many ways the college contributes to the community. The committee is dedicated to ensuring that future offerings continue the rich tradition of timely, topical and relevant lectures, representing diverse issues and points of view."
Ticen said that one of this year's speakers - Nicholas Wade - was booked as a direct result of a recommendation from a member of the community.
This year's Lyceum speakers are a diverse group who included nationally known blogger Jennifer Worick, New York Times science reporter Nicholas Wade, youth advocate Wes Moore and one of the Navy's first female fighter pilots, Missy Cummings.
Anyone who wishes to suggest a particular speaker or relevant topic can email suggestions to Lyceum@VictoriaCollege.edu.
The deadline to submit suggestions is Jan. 31. Be sure to submit the name or topic and any other information that may be pertinent to the committee's evaluation of the suggested speaker, as well as current contact information for the speaker if possible.
