Help Victoria Jaycees prepare for event

Oct. 3, 2013 at 5:03 a.m.

Editor, the Advocate:

The Victoria Jaycees are hosting the third annual Crossroads Cowboy Classic. This year, we are raising money to help the 13 Victoria County 4-H clubs. Most clubs barely have enough funds to pay dues and insurance, let alone be able to buy club equipment or awards. We are still looking for sponsors for the pig scramble and for the event itself. The pig scramble is just like a calf scramble at a major stock show. Kids compete to catch a pig for a $500 check to be used on their 2013-14 VLS animal projects. We will also have mutton bustin' each night, then a new event for the Classic - bareback riding. More information can be found on Facebook, our website or by calling the Victoria Jaycees. Mark those calendars for Nov. 15-16 and keep an eye out for when we announce the onstage entertainer coming Saturday night.

We have truly appreciated those sponsors from the last two years who have given, as well as returned, for the third year and the new businesses who joined us this year. All sponsorships are a tax deduction, and we could use some help. If you, your company or someone you know would like to be a sponsor, please contact us, and we can explain further what it is we are doing for these kiddos.
