Bronte Club hosts first meeting of year
The first meeting of the 2013-14 year of Bronte Club of Victoria was called to order by President Doris Wuensche at 3 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Victoria Women's Club House.
Wuensche welcomed members to the new year and presented her theme, "Dealing with It."
The Bronte Club members were lead in the Club Collect and pledges of allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and the Texas Flag.
Bronte member Mary Logan introduced the guest speaker, Jerry James, director of Intergovernmental Relations for the City of Victoria. James presented the Bronte Club conservation program titled, "Whiskey is for Drinkin', Water is for Fightin'."
Wuensche reminded members of the next Bronte Club meeting at 3 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Victoria Women's Club House. The public affairs program "Growth and Change in Victoria" will be presented by Mayor Paul Polasek. This will be Bronte Club guest day.
The meeting was adjourned for the tea hour presented by hostesses Charla Borchers Leon, Susan Cohen, Libby Horine, Jan Marchbanks and Kay Walker.
