Keith Williams, 52, might drive a new 2013 Ford Fusion hybrid home from the Dallas Cowboys versus Denver Broncos football game Sunday.
"This is unusual," Williams said. "I never win anything."
From more than 16,000 entrants, the Dow Chemical analytical technologist from Point Comfort was one of three randomly selected in the Drive Clean Across Texas sweepstakes sponsored by the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Department of Transportation.
The campaign encourages drivers to save gas and improve air quality with low-emission vehicles.
Along with a chance to win a brand-new hybrid vehicle, Williams received four tickets to the game and a parking pass. He invited two co-workers in his fantasy football league and his son to attend the game.
At 2:45 p.m., just before kickoff, he and the other two entrants - Lyssa Davoust, of Waco, and Sue Gaines, of Melissa - will draw keys to determine the winner.
"I'm trying not to think about it too much," Williams said. "It's just a thrill to get to go to the game."
Williams has been a Dallas Cowboys fan since Don Meredith was quarterback in the 1960s.
He found a link to the sweepstakes on the team's website, which he visits every day.
"The icon stared at me each time until I finally opened it," Williams said. "I've always been interested in conservation and energy."
Williams drives a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier for an hour to and from work four or five days per week, depending on his schedule.
"This is quite a surprise," he said. "I thought it was a scam until the tickets showed up."
